Outcome-Based Education
We follows the Outcome-based education system in our institution. The OBE i focuses on the learning outcomes of students rather than the inputs of teachers. It aims to ensure that students acquire the skills, knowledge, and competencies that are relevant and useful for their future success.
Outcome-based education has four main principles
- Design down: The curriculum is designed with the desired outcomes in mind, and then the content and assessments are aligned to them.
- High expectations: The outcomes are challenging and meaningful for all students, and they are clearly communicated and understood by everyone involved.
- Expanded opportunities: The students are given multiple and varied opportunities to learn and demonstrate their achievement of the outcomes, and they are supported and guided throughout the process.
- Systematic and continuous improvement: The outcomes, content, assessments, and teaching methods are regularly reviewed and revised based on feedback and evidence of student learning.
- Outcome-based education has been adopted in various countries and levels of education, but it has also faced some criticism and challenges.
Benefits of the outcome-based education are
- It encourages student-centered and active learning, where students are engaged and motivated to achieve their goals.
- It promotes lifelong learning and transferable skills, where students can apply their learning to different contexts and situations.
- It fosters equity and diversity, where students are valued and respected for their individual differences and abilities.
- It enhances quality and accountability, where students, teachers, and schools are held responsible for the outcomes and the evidence of learning.
