The Institutional and Research Advisory Board (IRAB) at Nirmala College of Pharmacy, Muvattupuzha is an advising body responsible for formulating recommendations to the Institutional policies in order to improve the performance and visibility of Nirmala College of Pharmacy as a center of excellence in the Pharmacy profession.

The purposes of the Institutional and Research Advisory Board (IRAB) are

• To discuss the process to be followed to improve the quality of teaching and learning for attaining program outcomes.
• To review research proposals and findings, thereby promoting research standards
• To motivate the confidence of the students and to improve their employability through systematic exposure to pharmaceutical organizations
• To create an entrepreneurial culture among faculty and students 

 COMPOSITION OF THE INSTITUTIONAL AND RESEARCH ADVISORY BOARD

Institutional and Research Advisory Board (IRAB) is constituted of with experts having enormous academic achievements, remarkable research experience, strong industrial exposure, and innovative and entrepreneurial ideas. Membership is for 2 years.

IRAB members will be working for the smooth functioning of the following areas.

1. Academic:     

The members are expected to recommend strategies for student-centric teaching pedagogies through curricular and co-curricular activities. Suggestions for further development, inputs for the accreditation process, assessment criteria of the current program, implementation of add-on courses, and MoU with reputed international Institutions for student and faculty exchange are some of the components to review by the members.

 2. Research:

This is intended to catalyze quality research and enhance research productivity through the mobilisation of resources and funding. Screening of research proposals for SEED funding, support for designing the projects applying to the funding agencies, suggestions for the development of research infrastructure, etc are the key areas in which the expertise of the members are expected.

 3. Placement:

The members are entrusted to provide guidance to the students for the achievement of their career goals. The measures to be taken to minimize the industry-institution gap, suggestion of add-on courses that suits the industry, opportunities for industrial training or visit, etc are expected from the members.

 4. Innovation and Entrepreneurship:

This is to facilitate the students to convert their ideas into technological innovation. Guidance for developing prototypes, motivation for start-ups, suggestions for organizing competitions and expo, advice for entrepreneurship, etc are listed under the purview of the members.

 MEETINGS

The Board will meet at least once in a year, either through online or offline mode. Additional meetings will be arranged depending on the need or number of project proposals submitted. The details of the meetings, including agenda will be intimated well in advance to the concerned members.

RECORDING OF THE DISCUSSION

The minutes of the meetings will be recorded with its activities, recommendations and meeting attendance. The comments for each project proposal are compiled and communicated to the concerned investigators.

Objective

• To develop a effective system to improve the academic and administrative performance of the institution.

Duties:

PAIC shall evolve mechanisms and procedures for

• Establishing the reporting methods and formalizing the communication processes.
• Improving the structure of documentation.
• Undertaking the workshops for training and awareness.
• Assuring compliance with all relevant rules and regulations.
• Ensuring  the optimization and adoption of modern and effective methods of teaching and learning;
• Validating the evaluation processes.
• Maintaining an open, transparent and trustworthy communication among the staff and departments.
• Ensuring timely, efficient and progressive performance of academic, administrative and financial tasks.
• Reviewing and approving the quality arrangements and their adherence.
• Developing and monitoring control frameworks.
• Ensuring the adequacy, maintenance and proper allocation of support structure and services.

Functions

Some of the functions expected of the PAIC are:

1. Development application and follow-up of quality benchmarks/parameters for various academic and administrative activities of the institution;
2. Facilitating the development of a competitive environment to produce the  quality education and growth for the students and  faculty maturation to adopt the required knowledge and technology for participatory teaching and learning process;
3. Arrangement for feedback responses from students, parents and other stakeholders on quality-related institutional processes;
4. Dissemination of information on various quality parameters of higher education;
5. Organization of inter and intra institutional workshops, seminars on quality related themes and promotion of quality circles;
6. Documentation of the various programmes/activities leading to quality improvement;
7. Acting as a nodal agency of the Institution for coordinating quality-related activities, including adoption and dissemination of best practices;
8. Development and maintenance of institutional database through MIS for the purpose of maintaining /enhancing the institutional quality;
9. Development of Quality Culture in the institution.
10. Proper conduction of committee meeting and recording minutes.
